Nillion NIL airdrop status in 2026
Nillion's first community airdrop is over. Eligibility registration ran from 20 January until 3 February 2025 at 17:00 UTC, and Nillion Alpha Mainnet launched with NIL on 24 March 2025. Eligible participants who completed the process received NIL in their registered claim wallets after launch.
Nillion reserved up to 75 million NIL—7.5% of the one-billion genesis supply—for community members and early builders. Qualifying categories included defined community roles and badges, developers, hackathon and bounty participants, technical contributors and other groups assessed by Nillion. Completing one quiz, testnet transfer or social task did not by itself guarantee an allocation.
There is now a different, legitimate NIL claim for the protocol's 2026 Cosmos-to-Ethereum migration. It is not a reopened airdrop. Old nilChain balances captured at the final halt can be claimed 1:1 as ERC-20 NIL through the current official migration claim.

Can you still claim the Nillion airdrop?
No new airdrop eligibility can be created. The official January 2025 announcement required eligible users to register before 3 February, and the March launch distributed the first wave to the claim wallets recorded through that process. The testnet, Nill Pill, verifier and Zealy actions in the archived article cannot be repeated for a retroactive allocation.
The old claims.nillion.com address now redirects to claim.nillion.com, the nilChain migration claim. A page that recognises an old Cosmos balance is handling the 2026 network migration, not awarding the 2025 community airdrop.
How the NIL Ethereum migration works
Nillion announced its move from a Cosmos Layer 1 to an Ethereum-based architecture in late 2025. nilChain stopped at block 6,222,000 on 23 March 2026, and the final ownership set was converted into a Merkle distribution on Ethereum.
For a balance that was not bridged before the halt, the current claim verifies two things on-chain: a Merkle proof that the old nilChain account had an allocation, and a signature proving control of the corresponding Cosmos private key while naming an Ethereum recipient. The contract enforces a one-time claim and releases the pre-minted ERC-20 NIL at a 1:1 ratio. Nillion says these post-halt claims are permissionless and available in perpetuity.
- Use only claim.nillion.com for an unbridged nilChain balance.
- Verify the ERC-20 contract directly from Nillion's migration guide before adding NIL to a wallet.
- After receiving NIL on Ethereum, use only Nillion's official bridge if moving it to the Nillion L2.
- Check whether an exchange completed the migration for custodial balances before attempting any personal claim.
- Never enter a Cosmos or Ethereum seed phrase into a website; the official flow requires wallet signatures, not disclosure of recovery words.
Official NIL contract and network distinction
The current Ethereum ERC-20 contract is:
0x7Cf9a80db3B29eE8efE3710AadB7b95270572d47
The old NIL was a native Cosmos token on nilChain and therefore had no Ethereum contract. A different Ethereum address claiming to be migrated NIL is not authentic merely because it uses the NIL ticker. Nillion's L2 is also a separate network destination; transferring between Ethereum and the L2 requires the official bridge and enough ETH for relevant gas.
NIL tokenomics and 2025 market event
Nillion's genesis allocation split the one-billion NIL supply into 29% ecosystem and R&D, 20% community, 10% protocol development, 21% early backers and 20% core contributors. Initial circulating supply was 19.52%. The 7.5% first-airdrop reserve sat within the broader community programme rather than increasing total supply.
In December 2025, Nillion announced a treasury-funded buyback programme after what it described as an unauthorised liquidation by a former market maker. Nillion explicitly said the programme was discretionary, could stop without notice and did not give holders a right to sell tokens to the Association. It should not be treated as a guaranteed price floor or ongoing purchase commitment.
Nillion in 2026: Blacklight, credits and staking
Nillion's current developer stack combines private storage, confidential compute and private AI through nilDB, nilCC and nilAI. The April 2026 Phase 2 upgrade introduced a unified developer portal. Credits for nilDB and nilCC are purchased by burning NIL and allocating them to nodes; nilAI can accept familiar card payments at the interface while still consuming compute paid for in NIL underneath.
Blacklight is the community verification layer on Nillion's Ethereum L2. A self-run Blacklight node needs at least 70,000 NIL to receive verification tasks. Rewards come from a fixed annual pool equal to 0.5% of total supply, so the return changes with total stake and completed work rather than being a guaranteed APY.
Nillion also introduced managed nodes with a much higher 500,000 NIL minimum, a seven-day unbonding period and service fees published as 30% on rewards claimed to a wallet or 20% on rewards restaked. Those terms make managed participation materially different from the old Cosmos delegation step in the archive.
Corrections to the original March 2025 guide
- The 2025 airdrop is no longer available to claim; registration closed before mainnet launch.
- Alpha Mainnet and NIL launched on 24 March 2025.
- The Cosmos nilChain and its staking flow were retired in March 2026.
- The current claim page is for a permanent 1:1 network migration, not a second airdrop.
- The old testnet faucet, explorer and verifier portal are offline and their links have been deactivated below.
- YouTube redirect wrappers and the Zealy invite parameter were removed from archived links.
- The historical request to send test tokens to a Boxmining address has been removed so readers cannot mistake it for a current instruction.
Original 19 March 2025 guide (historical archive)
The original guide is preserved substantially as published. Its airdrop, Cosmos testnet and verifier steps are obsolete; dead or promotional links and the old token-transfer request have been deactivated for safety.
Nillion ($NIL) is a secure computation network that enables developers to create applications with a focus on high-value, privacy-preserving data processing by decentralizing trust similar to how blockchains decentralize transactions. Nillion has completed its airdrop campaign and it is now available to claim! Here is our Nillion ($NIL) token airdrop guide.
What is Nillion?
Nillion is a decentralized network designed for secure computation of high-value data. Here are its main features:
- Privacy Enhancing Technologies: Utilizes Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and other technologies to ensure data privacy.
- Secure Data Storage: Allows users to store sensitive data on a peer-to-peer network without the need to decrypt it for computations.
- Computation on Masked Data: Enables computations on hidden data, maintaining security while processing.
- Diverse Applications: Supports a range of use cases, including private predictive LLMs, healthcare, password management, and trading data.
These features collectively aim to decentralize trust similar to how blockchain technology has decentralized transactions.
How to get the Nillion token airdrop
- Go to Nill Pill quest page Go to the Nill Pill page https://nillpill.nillion.com/ and click “Take the Pill”. Then, enter your ERC-20 wallet address. This campaign has expired.
- Watch videos and answer quizzes Watch the 3 short videos. These videos explain the importance of AI privacy and how Nillion will address these issues. After watching the videoes, answer the multiple-choice questions.
Here are the answers to the Nill Pill quizzes:
Nill Pill Quiz 1: B C A
Nill Pill Quiz 2: B B C
Nill Pill Quiz 3: C C B
Note one of the questions will require you to answer in your own words. - Save code Once you have answered the quizzes correctly, you will be provided with a code. Save the code carefully, as it will be needed for future NFT minting or whitelisting processes.
- Add Zillion to Keplr wallet Add Nillion to your Kepler wallet by visiting https://chains.keplr.app/ and searching for Nillion. Then click “manage” and the tick button to see your balance in Kepler. The old nilChain is now retired.
- Claim testnet tokens Go to the former Nillion Faucet at
https://faucet.testnet.nillion.com/(offline) and submit your address to claim testnet tokens. Complete the CAPTCHA to receive the tokens. It was recommended to return every 24 hours to claim more testnet tokens without over-spamming. - Send Nillion tokens to another wallet The original guide suggested sending test tokens to another address found through
https://testnet.nillion.explorers.guru/(offline). The original article listed a community address here; do not send tokens to it now. - Stake Nillion The original Cosmos staking page was
https://testnet.ping.pub/nillion(retired). Users could click “Delegate” and choose a validator. We recommended polkachu.com and Lavender.Five Nodes, but any validator worked. - Enter codes Enter the 5 codes into Terminal (for Mac users) or Command Center (for Windows users). The codes and detailed instructions were formerly published at
https://docs.nillion.com/nillion-sdk-and-tools(retired). If you encounter a path error, use ChatGPT to find the correct command for your setup. Wait approximately five minutes for the Nillion SDK to download. Then enable telemetry by entering your Ethereum wallet address in the specified command. Confirm successful setup when you see tools dash config and random numbers in your terminal. Then close your terminal once the setup is complete. Alternatively, use a VPS for more advanced tasks like running a node or claiming tokens regularly from faucets. - Complete Zealy quests Go to Nillion’s Zealy quest page and complete the tasks. Tasks included following Nillion’s social media channels.
- Become a Nillion verifier To become a Nillion verifier, the old guide asked users to connect Keplr at
https://verifier.nillion.com/(offline) and fund it from the faucet. It then covered installing Docker, pulling the verifier image, registering credentials, running it in the background and uploading weekly data. This programme has ended. - Claim airdrop The old claim address was
https://claims.nillion.com/. It now redirects to the migration claim and is not an airdrop claim.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Nillion airdrop still active?
No. Eligibility registration for the first community airdrop closed on 3 February 2025, before NIL and Alpha Mainnet launched on 24 March 2025.
Can I still claim the old NIL airdrop?
No new or late airdrop claim is available. Completing the archived testnet or social steps now cannot create eligibility for the closed distribution.
Why is claim.nillion.com still live?
It serves the 2026 nilChain-to-Ethereum migration. It lets holders prove an unbridged balance recorded at the final Cosmos-chain halt and claim the equivalent amount of ERC-20 NIL; it is not a reopened airdrop.
When did the NIL token launch?
NIL launched with Nillion Alpha Mainnet on 24 March 2025. The later Ethereum token represents migrated NIL, not a newly issued second asset or airdrop.
What is the official Ethereum NIL contract?
The official ERC-20 NIL contract published by Nillion is 0x7Cf9a80db3B29eE8efE3710AadB7b95270572d47. Verify it against Nillion's migration guide before transacting.
What happened to Nillion's Cosmos chain?
nilChain halted permanently at block 6,222,000 on 23 March 2026. Nillion took a final balance snapshot and now uses Ethereum and its Ethereum L2 architecture.
Is there a NIL migration deadline?
Nillion's migration guide says claims for balances captured at the halt are permissionless and available in perpetuity. Use only the official claim page and never disclose a wallet seed phrase.
What is NIL's supply and airdrop allocation?
Nillion created one billion NIL at genesis. Up to 75 million NIL, equal to 7.5% of that supply, was reserved for its first community airdrop.
How much NIL is needed to run a Blacklight node?
Nillion publishes a minimum of 70,000 NIL for a self-run Blacklight node to receive tasks. Its managed-node product has a separate 500,000 NIL minimum and published service fees.
What are the main risks of holding or staking NIL?
Risks include token-price volatility, smart-contract and bridge failures, node penalties or downtime, changing reward economics, Ethereum transaction fees and phishing through fake claim or migration sites.
