What Devcon 8 is about
The official Devcon site describes four days of talks, workshops, coworking, Community Hubs, and discussion spaces. Its core themes are censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security, shortened by the organizers to CROPS. Ethereum protocol work, DeFi, social applications, art, AI, and real-world uses also appear in the program outline.
That framing gives Devcon a different center of gravity from an expo. There will still be companies, product launches, and recruiting. Visa, airport, and where to stay
International attendees should deal with the visa question early. The official FAQ says ticket holders can request a confirmation letter and recommends submitting that request at least 90 days before the event. The letter does not guarantee visa approval.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is the closest airport. The venue is in Bandra Kurla Complex, commonly called BKC. Devcon estimates the trip from the airport at roughly 10 to 12 kilometres, or 30 to 45 minutes by taxi, but Mumbai traffic can change that quickly.
Stay near BKC if the conference is your main priority. A cheaper room far away can become expensive in time and rides. The organizer has linked a hotel booking page with designated room blocks, which are allocated first come, first served.
Who should attend
Devcon is the strongest event in this list for Ethereum developers, security researchers, protocol contributors, open-source maintainers, designers, and community organizers. It also works for newcomers who want a structured introduction, as long as they are ready for technical sessions.
Investors and business-development teams can find useful people there, but a purely sales-driven plan will miss the point. The most valuable conversations may happen in a workshop, a Community Hub, or a coworking area rather than on the largest stage.
What is still unconfirmed
A complete public schedule and final speaker roster were not available on 10 August. Speaker applications and community programming were still moving through the selection process. Do not import names from Devcon SEA in Bangkok or Devconnect Buenos Aires and present them as confirmed for Mumbai.
