ETHGas GWEI airdrop and project guide

Updated August 10, 2026: ETHGas has moved well beyond its original Beanstalk Bonanza points campaign. The $GWEI token is live, the Season 1 airdrop has been distributed, Season 2 quests are active, and ETHGas now operates blockspace markets, realtime Ethereum infrastructure and Open Gas rebates. This guide replaces the old Chapter 1 instructions with the current status.

TL;DR

  • The original ETHGas Season 1 airdrop is over. Its final snapshot was taken on January 19, 2026, and $GWEI launched on January 21.
  • ETHGas says 20,881 addresses received the initial distribution, with an average allocation of 2,395 GWEI.
  • Season 2 is active and connects Beans quests with Open Gas rebate activity. Beans are loyalty points, not tokens, and ETHGas does not guarantee that completing quests will produce another airdrop.
  • $GWEI is available through Binance Alpha and a Binance Futures GWEIUSDT perpetual contract. It is not a standard Binance Spot listing at the time of this update.
  • ETHGas is building a market for Ethereum blockspace, a realtime execution sidecar, validator tools and protocol-sponsored gas rebates.

Is ETHGas listed on Binance?

Yes, but the type of listing matters. ETHGas launched on Binance Alpha on January 21, 2026. Binance Futures then launched the GWEIUSDT perpetual contract on January 29, 2026. ETHGas also describes its Binance availability as "Binance Alpha & Perpetuals" in its first 90 days recap.

Neither product is the same as a Binance Spot listing. Binance Alpha gives Binance Wallet users access to selected onchain tokens. A perpetual contract is a derivative that tracks GWEI's price and can use leverage. Buying a perpetual contract does not give you the underlying token. Binance itself warns that a Futures listing does not guarantee a future Spot listing.

At the time of this update, Binance has no standard GWEIUSDT Spot pair. Avoid articles or social posts that shorten "Binance Alpha and Perpetuals" to "Binance Spot." Product access also varies by jurisdiction.

ETHGas airdrop status

Season 1 is complete

The first Gasless Future campaign is no longer a speculative points farm. ETHGas took the final Season 1 snapshot on January 19, 2026 and opened the $GWEI claim on January 21. Eligibility combined Beans, social verification and historical Ethereum gas spending. According to ETHGas, 20,881 addresses received the initial distribution and the average allocation was 2,395 GWEI.

If you missed the snapshot, completing the old Chapter 1 referral milestones will not make you eligible for the completed Season 1 distribution. Treat pages that still promise the original airdrop as outdated.

Season 2 is active, but rewards are not guaranteed

The ETHGas community guide says Season 2 Beans come from Open Gas missions and rebate activity. Season 1 and Season 2 balances are tracked separately, while eligible Season 1 activity can provide a Legacy Bonus multiplier for Season 2 rewards.

That does not make Season 2 a confirmed second token airdrop. ETHGas's program disclaimer says Beans have no cash value or claim on current or future assets. Quest rules, eligibility and reward structures can change. Farm only if the activity makes sense on its own, not because a token payout is certain.

How to participate in ETHGas Season 2

  1. Use the official community page. Start at ethgas.com/community. Check the domain carefully before connecting an account or wallet.
  2. Create or reopen your community profile. ETHGas uses an X account for community onboarding and quest verification. Follow the current instructions on the dashboard instead of an old screenshot or copied referral guide.
  3. Link your primary wallet. The official flow asks you to sign a gasless message to prove wallet ownership. A legitimate verification will never require your seed phrase or private key.
  4. Check the active Season 2 chapter. Current missions center on Open Gas. Quest availability and Bean amounts can change, so verify them in the dashboard before spending time or gas.
  5. Review live rebate campaigns. The Open Gas campaigns page lists participating protocols, eligible actions, networks and campaign periods. Do not assume every transaction with a partner qualifies.
  6. Claim eligible rebates. ETHGas aggregates sponsored rebates in its claim dashboard. The claim step uses a gasless signature, but withdrawing the resulting balance to your wallet requires an onchain transaction and its normal fee.
  7. Return to the quest dashboard. Some missions require a separate verification step after connecting to Open Gas or claiming a rebate. Your wallet must match the one linked to your community profile.

Rebates depend on rules set by each sponsoring protocol. ETHGas states that available rebates can expire after six months. Check the current campaign terms before taking any action.

What is ETHGas building?

ETHGas is not a Layer 2 network and it is not simply trying to lower Ethereum's base fee. Its main product is a market for buying and selling rights to future Ethereum blockspace. Validators provide the supply, while traders, applications and block builders can buy more predictable execution.

Blockspace markets

ETHGas documents four market products:

  • Inclusion preconfirmations give a buyer a guarantee that a transaction will be included in a specified block, subject to the product's rules.
  • Execution preconfirmations add a guarantee about the expected execution result or state.
  • Whole blocks let buyers purchase a future block's sequencing rights.
  • Base fee trading is designed to let market participants manage exposure to changes in Ethereum's base fee.

The product documentation says these markets quote prices in gwei, settle in ETH and support market and limit orders. The goal is to make transaction inclusion and blockspace costs easier to plan.

Realtime Ethereum

Ethereum still finalizes normal Layer 1 blocks on its usual schedule. ETHGas adds a block-building sidecar that streams preliminary state updates between those blocks. Its Realtime Ethereum documentation describes synthetic block updates every 50 to 100 milliseconds, backed by economic commitments from the builder.

For an application, this could make a payment, swap or position update appear much faster while the final Layer 1 block is still being built. Developers can connect through a compatible realtime RPC or run ETHGas's modified reth client. The distinction is important: the fast update is a preconfirmation, not a replacement for Ethereum finality.

Open Gas rebates

Open Gas is the consumer-facing part of the project. Participating protocols sponsor rebates for selected user actions. ETHGas calculates eligible activity in monthly cycles, lets users claim multiple rebates with one signature, and credits the result to an Open Gas balance. Users can then withdraw that balance as WETH.

This is closer to cashback than a protocol-wide removal of Ethereum fees. You still pay the original transaction cost, only specified activity qualifies, and a sponsor can set its own limits and conditions.

Validator infrastructure

ETHGas also provides validator software and multi-relay support. Validators can connect to ETHGas while continuing to use other relays such as Flashbots or Titan. In April 2026, ETHGas announced that ether.fi would commit about 40% of its ETH holdings, valued by the companies at $3 billion at announcement, to ETHGas's High Performance Staking Service for three years and use its preconfirmation platform during the term. This is intended to give the blockspace market a deeper supply of participating validators.

What is the $GWEI token?

$GWEI is the governance token for the ETHGas Foundation. Holders can stake GWEI to receive veGWEI voting power. ETHGas says veGWEI can be used for proposals, protocol parameters, treasury decisions and upgrades. The documented total supply is 10 billion GWEI.

Do not confuse the token ticker with gwei, the Ethereum denomination used to quote gas prices. They share a name but are not the same thing.

The official token contracts are:

  • Ethereum: 0x2798b1cC5A993085E8A9D46e80499F1B63f42204
  • BNB Smart Chain: 0x30117E4bC17d7B044194b76A38365C53b72F7D49

Verify these addresses against the official Foundation FAQ before swapping, bridging or approving a contract. Tickers and logos are easy to copy.

Risks and checks before participating

  • No guaranteed airdrop: Beans and quests do not promise a fixed token allocation.
  • Rebate economics: A small future rebate may not justify contract risk, price exposure or the gas cost of the original transaction and later withdrawal.
  • Signature risk: Read every wallet request. A profile verification should not ask for token approval, a seed phrase or a private key.
  • Listing confusion: Binance Alpha, Binance Futures and Binance Spot are different products. A perpetual position is not ownership of GWEI.
  • Leverage risk: The Binance GWEIUSDT contract launched with leverage of up to 50x. Liquidation can happen quickly on a volatile token.
  • Regional restrictions: The airdrop claim, staking, Binance products and other ETHGas services may be unavailable in your jurisdiction.

For most users, the sensible route is to check whether normal activity with an Open Gas partner already qualifies for a rebate. Churning transactions solely to collect Beans adds cost and risk without a guaranteed payout.
